Internet Giant Google co-founder Sergey Brin warned that freedom in the Internet is under threat by censorship and widespread restrictions by companies such as Facebook and Apple.
"I am more worried than I have been in the past," he told The Guardian in an exclusive interview, published Monday, April 16.
Back to the era when Internet started:
The fathers of internet had hardly any idea that it could be misused for crimes and criminal activities that would require stringent regulation. As the usage of the internet is largely anonymous in nature, it is very possible to commit criminal activities of various degrees by people with an ample amount of knowledge of the web. This is why the cyber laws were formed. India too has its own cyber laws. Cyber laws cover almost all aspects of various activities and transactions concerning the world wide web, cyberspace and the internet. Though it seems that Cyber laws are quite technical to concern us, it is not so. Every click has implications in cyberspace and thus, legal perspectives too. Cyber laws concern every one of us. From sharing copyright material over the web to black hat activities, and anything and everything in between, falls under the vast wing of cyber crime. Though the laws in India are hardly ever put into execution, the situation is becoming more serious by the day, and it won't be long before everything starts to be monitored and thus, regulated. So we should start taking heed of our activities on the web, as the laws slowly become active and as more and more cyber criminals are brought to book.
